'The wings are yours, and the sky belongs to no one else': Tharoor

Senior Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Tuesdaydefended his article on the global reach of Operation Sindoor, saying it was not an indication of Prime Minister Narendra Modi joining the party but a statement of national unity. Now Congress leader Shashi Tharoorsharedacryptic post on his social media on Wednesday. This post was made soon after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed displeasure over his article praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an English daily.

The quote shared by Tharoor on X says, 'Don't ask permission to fly. The wings are yours, and the sky belongs to no one'. This means that individuals should always be encouraged to achieve their goals without seeking approval from others. Hence, this quote reflects a subtle, veiled sarcasm to target the Congress repeatedly.

Shashi Tharoor's language is very good...

Earlier today, Kharge criticised Tharoor, who recently led an all-party delegation abroad for India's Operation Sindoor outreach, for calling PM Modi a 'key asset for India', saying that 'for some people, Modi comes first'. The Congress president said, 'Shashi Tharoor's language is very good. That is why he has been kept in the Congress Working Committee.

We stand together for the country

I said in Gulbarga that we speak in one voice, we stand together for the country. We stood together in Operation Sindoor. We said country comes first, but some people say Modi comes first, country comes later. So what should we do?' Kharge's reaction came after Tharoor clarified that the global spread of Operation Sindoor was not a sign of his joining the BJP but a statement of standing for national unity, interest and India.

Tharoor's comments were strongly criticised by Congress allies

Shashi's comments were heavily criticised by his Congress colleagues, especially after he condemned the surgical strikes carried out during the UPA regime and praised the Modi government's handling of the situation. However, the veteran MP hit back and accused 'critics and trolls' of twisting his views, insisting that he has 'better things to do'.

His latest praise of the Prime Minister comes days after he acknowledged differences with the Congress top leadership, though he downplayed any rift with the leadership or cadre. Tharoor met Prime Minister Modi at his residence in Delhi on June 11 after completing the Operation Sindoor global outreach. Seven multi-party delegations carrying out the same task also met the Prime Minister.
