Godavari: Bhadrachalam Godavari Bridge completes 60 years
The bridge built over the Godavari River at Bhadrachalam has now completed a glorious journey of 60 years.

This bridge was officially inaugurated on July 13, 1965 by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who served as the second President of India. At that time, it played a vital role in providing an important transport facility to the people of Bhadrachalam.
Structural feature
This bridge was built by a leading engineering firm from Mumbai. Its total length is 3,934 feet and it has a total of 37 pillars. The distance between each pillar is 106.6 feet. Due to the solid construction, this bridge has bravely withstood heavy floods in the past.
Foundation for development
Despite the floods of 75.60 feet in 1986 and 71.30 feet in 2022, this bridge did not suffer any damage. It has become a symbol of the development of Bhadrachalam. It has strengthened commercial and social ties between the villages and towns on both sides of the river. The bridge has been undergoing strengthening works for decades and is standing as a reliable bond for the people of Bhadrachalam.
