A criminal case has been registered in Tamil Nadu against Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan . The case was registered on allegations of violating rules while participating in a Murugan devotee conference held in Madurai last month. A case has been registered in connection with this incident at Annanagar Police Station in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. Based on the complaint of Advocate Vanjinathan, the police have registered an FIR against Pawan Kalyan, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai and the organizers of the meeting.
Allegations of violation of rules and provocative comments
In this case, the police have registered a case under IPC sections 196(1)(a), 299, 302, 353(1)(b)(2). The FIR alleges that Pawan Kalyan made comments inciting hatred on the basis of religion and region during the conference. The complaint mainly states that the police imposed certain restrictions before the Murugan devotees' conference in Madurai, but the program was held without following them.
Political turmoil and the response of the ruling classes
In the wake of this case registration, political discussions have started in Tamil Nadu as well as Andhra Pradesh. While some are seeing this as a conspiracy against Pawan Kalyan's political rise, others are expressing the opinion that an investigation should be conducted if the law has been violated. Official sources, however, have clarified that the case registration is at the preliminary stage and further action will be taken after the investigation. An official response is yet to be received from Pawan Kalyan or the Janasena Party.
