Padma Awards: Center invites applications for Padma Awards – Deadline until 31st of this month

The Government of India, like every year, has started the nominations for the Padma Awards for the year 2026. To this end, the Union Home Ministry has issued an invitation from March 15, and the process will end by July 31. Nominations or recommendations for these awardscanbe sent throughthe official Rashtriya Puraskar portal (https://awards.gov.in ).

What do the Padma Awards consist of?

Qualifications Who can apply?

These awards are applicable to everyone irrespective of profession, caste, religion, region, gender etc. These awards are given to those who have rendered distinguished services in various fields like arts, literature, education, sports, medicine, social service, science, engineering, public affairs, civil service, commerce and industry. Every person is eligible for these awards irrespective of profession, status, gender and race. However, government employees and those working in public sector institutions, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for these Padma awards.

How to apply?

While making a nomination or recommendation, the nomination or recommendation should contain complete details of the person concerned. It should also be in the format mentioned in the Puraskar portal. The distinguished service or effort done by the person being nominated for the award should be clearly stated. It should also be explained in a maximum of 800 words. Self-nomination can also be done. The government has also stated that it should take initiatives to recognize the talents of women, socially weaker sections, the disabled, and those who are doing selfless service to the society.
