How did the accident happen...
Some pilgrims from Raichur had set out for the Kashi Yatra in a private bus.As their bus reached Kanamarlapudi in Savalyapuram mandal of Palnadu district, it hit a lorry moving in front from behind on the Kurnool-Guntur national highway. The lorry driver, who was going towards Kurnool from Narasaraopet, was seriously injured in the accident and died on the spot.
Two of the injured are in critical condition.
A total of 10 devoteeswere injured in the accident. Two of them were seriously injured and are being treated at the Vinukonda Government Hospital. The rest suffered minor injuries.
Traffic jam on the road
Since the accident site is on the main route of the Kurnool-Guntur National Highway, vehicular traffic was completely stopped for some time. Due to this, many passengers faced difficulties. Upon receiving information, the police immediately reached the spot and cleared the traffic and took up rescue operations.
Fast driving
According to preliminary information, the accident is suspected to have been caused by the bus driver driving at high speed. Police said that a case has been registered against the driver for negligence as the lives of the passengers were at risk.
