General strike to be held on the 9th of this month

Union leaders told the media that they decided to extend full support to the general strike to be held on the 9th of this month. The strike will be held on the 9th of this month as per the call given by the joint platform of 10 central trade unions, all-India level sector-wise independent federations and organizations of trade unions.Left parties in Telangana state extend their full support to the general strikeThe Left parties have expressed their anger over the BJP government at the Centre's move to implement labour codes, which are a key part of the corporate agenda aimed at severely curtailing the basic democratic rights of workers. Leaders said that trade unions have called for a general strike against the labour codes. They said that the BJP-led government, which has come to power for the third time, is looking to aggressively implement its neo-liberal agenda. Labour codes are a key part of that. The leaders criticized the government for moving too fast towards privatising key national resources, especially strategic sectors like defence and communication.

The Left leaders have expressed their anger that they are trying to suppress the movements taking place against these policies. They said that the general strike on the 9th of this month will echo the demands raised by the trade unions, including the agitations being expressed by the farmers, agricultural workers and the general public. They said that the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and agricultural trade unions have supported this general strike. The party leaders said that they are calling on all the party branches to mobilize a large number of people to make the strike a success.
